20 Animated Movies Submitted for 2014 Oscar Consideration

From the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, comes a list of twenty features that have been submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 87th Academy Awards.

The submitted features, (listed in alphabetical order) are:

• “Big Hero 6”
• “The Book of Life”
• “The Boxtrolls”
• “Cheatin’”
• “Giovanni’s Island”
• “Henry & Me”
• “The Hero of Color City”
• “How to Train Your Dragon 2”
• “Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart”
• “Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return”
• “The Lego Movie”
• “Minuscule – Valley of the Lost Ants”
• “Mr. Peabody & Sherman”
• “Penguins of Madagascar”
• “The Pirate Fairy”
• “Planes: Fire & Rescue”
• “Rio 2”
• “Rocks in My Pockets”
• “Song of the Sea”
• “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya”

Category rules require at least eight eligible animated features theatrically released in Los Angeles County within the calendar year in order for the category to be activated.

The 87th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The Oscars® will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
